I’m just taking over the blog briefly, to say hello and to tell you all about the incredible trip to LA that I won through WIND Mobile and Huawei. I know a lot of people have been interested in who I am, what happened and what LA has been like, so I thought the easiest way to share my experience was to write all about it here.
First of all, I still can’t quite believe I won! I can’t quite tell you how shocked (and totally excited!) I was when I received the call from WIND Mobile saying I had been picked to go to Hollywood. I honestly thought it was a spam call at first, I just couldn’t quite believe it was authentic and that I had been chosen!
I left for LA last Wednesday night, in time for Thursday evening’s premier and headed back to Toronto on Sunday, it was great to have some time to explore the city and see the sights as well as attend the Expendables 2 premier. In that time I took a tour of Hollywood and the Beverly Hills districts, learnt my way around and L.A. soon felt a lot like home. It really is an incredible city!
The Expendables 2 premier, on Thursday night, was obviously the highlight of my trip. Rubbing shoulders with the megastars in this movie was just unreal! The film started around 7:30 p.m. but I was in line a lot earlier to do some star-spotting and to get a good seat. It was held in the Chinese Theater, which hosts most of the red carpet events and movie premieres in Hollywood and I can totally understand why! The theater is really beautiful, with traditional Chinese art across the walls and ceiling. It didn’t even feel like I was in a theatre; it was more like an important historical building.
Once everyone was seated and had settled down a little, Sylvester Stallone (!!!) gave a short speech about the movie and then the screening began.
Without giving too much away, I would TOTALLY recommend this movie! Think the perfect combination of action, fun and visual effects! I’d recommend watching the first movie before seeing this one (if you haven’t already), just to understand every character’s role a little better. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham together are just hilarious; they match each other perfectly, while Bruce Willis adds a lot of humor. It will no doubt be one of the best action-comedies of the year. It shouldn’t be missed!
Afterwards some of the actors stayed around to talk to people and take photos with the audience. Terry Crews, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Jean-Claude Van Damme were all on-site chatting to excited fans and answering questions. As well as this amazing trip, WIND and Huawei gave me an awesome new phone – The Huawei Ascend P1. I’ve had many Android phones before, but this one is noticeably faster and smoother to use. It’s super slim and low weight, so you barely notice it in your pocket. It made it super easy to take with me to the premier. The camera is awesome and the screen is bright and clear!
This whole experience was really amazing and I honestly never thought it would be me among these Hollywood stars. This was a once in a lifetime experience and something I’ll never forget! THANK YOU WIND!
