Happy Anniversary WIND!

Tony

As many of you may know, today is the second anniversary of our launch in Canada. Two years ago, we ushered in a new era of wireless for Canadians. We set out to bring positive change to an industry that was dominated by an oligopoly and we were the first real alternative to those incumbent operators in Canada in over a decade.

We are now bringing change to Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa Vancouver, Hamilton and, in just the past four months, to Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Welland, London, Fort Saskatchewan and Abbotsford. We have introduced new handsets and we’re distributing in over 450 locations nationwide. We have launched roaming to over 200 countries and we now have over 350,000 subscribers.

As we look ahead to next year, I want to let Canadians know that change is on the way for more of you. WIND will be launching in Barrie, Peterborough, Windsor, Kingston and Belleville in Ontario as well as Mission in British Columbia. We will also be the first new carrier to expand to Halifax, Winnipeg and Regina in 2012. With our network growing stronger every day I’m happy to say that we’re on track to reach our target of 500,000 subscribers by the first quarter of next year.

Since WIND has entered the market, we are seeing prices being challenged and lowered by over 30 per cent and customer service is improving across the board. In a recent survey, 74 per cent, of Canadians say they have more freedom now that they can avoid contracts and over half of Canadians feel that there is more value in their mobile offering.

But today, I want to acknowledge the tens of thousands of members of our community. Thank you for being behind us from the beginning. Thank you for helping to shape the company that we have become. Thank you for your continued input and feedback as we move forward. We couldn’t have done any of this without you and without the support of so many Canadians who have made the choice to come to WIND.

We look forward to continuing to challenge the status quo, to champion wireless competition in Canada and to give Canadians every reason to join our growing community.

I’m still waiting for the 401. Not that hard to cover, but it makes a difference, and you almost have that coverage now!

Glad to see that you’re extending coverage. Also curious if Saskatoon is on the way as well, since you mentioned Regina.

Why wait until next year? Give out Barrie 705 numbers NOW, the network is WORKING.
