Help Bring Positive Change to Niagara

Tony

As you may have read in our last blog post, WIND is surging ahead with our plans to bring fair prices and freedom from wireless contracts to all Canadians. Earlier this week, we officially launched in the Niagara region. As a Niagara native myself, it means a lot to me that we’re able to bring wireless change to the area so I’m especially excited to introduce our latest initiative to give back – the WINDthanks Niagara Community Grant.

We’re asking residents and organizations in the region to tell us exactly what would make a positive change in the Niagara community. We want to hear about it and help out, by offering $10,000 for the project. Is there a park that needs updating? A youth sports team who needs new equipment? A project that you think the community would benefit from? Visit WINDmobile.ca/WINDthanks before January 13th and let us know.

All you have to do is give us a brief description about the project and why it should be awarded the grant. Anyone can nominate a project but the grant must be awarded to a recognized group.

We’ll be awarding the grant based on the benefit of the project to the Niagara community and its members, the innovation, uniqueness or need for the project in the community, and the support the project receives from the community. What do we mean by ‘support from the community’? You tell us! Get supporters to let us know that they want WIND to award the grant to your project. Post a comment on this blog, write on our Facebook wall, tweet @WINDmobile – anything to get our attention and show support.

We’ll be announcing the chosen project in January 2012 – so stay tuned to find out which project will receive the grant!

This $10,000 could have gone towards building a tower at Burnaby Campus of Simon Fraser University?

Please we have had no coverage, even though the Burnaby Campus is so close to Vancouver.

Rogers, Telus and Bell all have atleast 1 tower at the Burnaby Campus.

Why not you?

i somewhat agree with you, Robert, although i am confident that WIND is listening to your voice. They have a robust network and invest lots of effort to make sure that it has good, reliable speeds and that it is constantly expanding. It is generous of WIND to do WINDthanks and it just shows how little mobile services cost. Even with their low prices, they have money to build out their network and to donate to good causes. :D

Best to direct this question to SFU itself. That is one of the areas there has always been trouble with. Fido had no luck getting in there for a long time back when they were expanding, and it took Rogers forever too. Same with West Vancouver, Victoria, etc. It’s not WIND’s fault in most of those areas.

This is a very good move Sir, even though where i just moved to @ sandalwood and Chingcousey area my phone does not work, but simple things like this is one of the many reason why i stay with wind mobile until it get better. For my Christmas though i hope that area will be fully covered. Thanks a lot Cheers!!
